De Bijenkorf - In-Store Styling & Mannequins

Styling for the store's display points and mannequins, across a range of customer profiles.

Each display point speaks to a different type of customer, and my styling shifts with it, but always through the same lens: mine. I look for the edge. The point just past expected, where a combination feels daring. Close enough to what that customer recognizes, then push just past it. The point where a combination still feels like them, but challenges what they expected of themselves.

That edge comes from research as much as instinct. I follow the shows, track new designers before they're widely known, and stay close to what's shifting in fashion and in the world around it. Because styling that feels ahead has to actually be informed, not just confident. All of that funnels into a personal obsession with material. The way I'll choose a piece for high quality, for how a fabric catches light, or push two textures together because the contrast says something a single material never could. It's not a styling rule I follow; it's the thing that makes a rail of mine recognizable before you even check the name on the schedule. Surprise, elegance, and depth built from unexpected material and texture combinations, finished with a silhouette strong enough to make someone stop in their tracks. That's not a Bijenkorf standard. That's mine.
